1)

WWW : Made some good points and it is well structured.

EBI : lacks detailed knowledge of both texts.

Mark : 14/34

Grade : D

Ucas Grade : C

2)

(unseen text) additional point/theory:

I need to consistently use highly appropriate use of subject specific terminology throughout.

EG, The visual signifiers also emphasise class, wealth and success. The mise-en-scene in the
image connotes both professional success and a slightly youthful appearance (suit but no tie,
open-necked shirt, sunglasses, facial hair). The model is positioned to show the product.

(unseen text and CSP) additional point/theory/CSP reference:

Excellent knowledge and understanding of the influences of social and
historical contexts on media products that is consistently supported by
highly appropriate and effective reference to the set products.

EG, Hegemonic masculinity – advert suggests patriarchal dominance is still in place despite
changes in gender representation over recent years.

3)

Benefits of vertical integration:

Definition and benefits of diversification

4) Pick out three points from the mark scheme that you could have included in your answer here.

Social media posts for the film supported the Black Lives Matter movement which helped
tap into the anti-racism narrative in the film. This demonstrates how new technology allows
media products and companies to connect with audiences over ideological or political issues.

• Film was largely unsuccessful at the box office with many industry figures blaming a release
strategy that failed to build on positive word-of-mouth and pitted the film against Yesterday,
another music-based historical film with a romantic story line.

• However, technology arguably has saved the film (and New Line Cinema who paid $15m for
the rights to distribute) with deals to make Blinded By The Light available first on Amazon
Prime and then on Netflix. This means the film will continue to generate income despite the
initial disappointing box office figures.

5) Finally, identify three things you plan to revise before your next Media assessment or mock exam (e.g. terminology, particular theories or CSPs etc.)

I need to consistently use highly appropriate use of subject specific terminology throughout answers that I give to make sure my answer is the best it can be.

I also need to improve my knowledge on the theories and theorists.

Lastly I need to go over any CSPS i might have missed or not fully understood.
